About
Venable is a neighborhood bistro serving globally inspired comfort food located in Carrboro’s historic Carr Mill.
Since we opened in 2012, Venable has become known as a great place for a weeknight dinner with friends, the go-to spot for first dates, and the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion with family.
Chef-owner Andrew Moore trained at the Culinary Institute of America before working at a series of noted restaurants throughout the world, including San Dominico in Imola, Italy, Club Chelsea in Aspen, I Trulli in New York City, and Troquet in Boston.
Locally, Moore has cooked at The Siena Hotel’s Il Palio, Tyler’s Taproom, and was the first chef at The Federal in Durham.
Moore’s menu highlights seasonal ingredients from local producers and draws inspiration from French, Italian, Asian and Mexican cuisine. Venable is known for our panko-crusted fried chicken piled high with arugula and shaved parmesan, our truffled artichoke dip with grilled flatbread, the vegetarian bahn mi, and our Robuchon inspired herb-whipped potatoes. Venable also has daily specials based on what is available at the farmers’ market. Guests can enjoy our full menu in our dining room, on the patio or at the bar.
